Vernal alfalfa is a longstanding line of alfalfa genetics known for its drought and winter hardiness. It is suitable for hay production on dryland or in alfalfa/grass mixtures intended for haying or grazing.

 

34% Seed Coating and Innoculated

 

  • Introduced in Wisconsin in 1953
  • Very winterhardy
  • Works well in northern climates in a two cut system
  • Mixes well with timothy or smooth bromegrass
  • Late to break dormancy in the spring
  • Early to go dormant in fall

 

Seeding Rate:14-20 alone, 8-10 mixes

Planting dates: March-April, August-September

Approx. germination time: 7-10 days
